Riverside Public Schools is introducing a new online learning opportunity for students called the Riverside Online Classroom, or ROC. Students in the ROC program are taught by Riverside teachers and are able to create flexible schedules that allow them to take all or some of their classes online from the comfort of home. Teachers will be using a device called Swivl that allows them to record the audio and video of their instruction and upload it to Google Classroom. Google Classroom contains all of the instruction and assignments for students while providing a location to turn assignments into the teachers. ROC students can participate in all extracurricular activities that the school has to offer such as basketball, softball, band, choir, etc. They may even participate in class field trips. At the completion of the program, students will take part in Riverside's graduation ceremony and earn a Riverside diploma. Riverside understands that the needs and abilities of today's students are evolving and we always strive to be at the forefront of educational innovation. Over the past few years, Riverside has implemented several new programs for its students such as a 1:1 laptop initiative, wifi on school buses, free associate degrees earned on Riverside's campus through ASU-Newport, and now the ROC, Riverside Online Classroom. If you are interested in participating in this program or any of Riverside’s programs, families can submit school choice paperwork before the May 1st deadline. If you are a current student interested in participating in this program, check with the counselor about getting application paperwork started.
